UCD Confucius Institute Hosts Special Lecture on Chinese Language Teaching Practices
On November 28, 2024, the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland successfully hosted a special lecture titled "Demonstrations and Analysis of Chinese Language Teaching Practices" . The guest speaker, Dr. Lianyi Song from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, shared his extensive experience and profound insights in the field of international Chinese language education. The event was chaired by Professor Liming Wang, Director of the UCD Confucius Institute and the Irish Institute for Chinese Studies at UCD. Over 40 staff and postgraduate students attended the lecture.
The lecture began at 5:30 p.m., with Dr. Song leveraging his extensive teexperience to address key issues in Chinese language teaching. He provided in-depth analyses of topics such as lesson planning, classroom interaction, and cultural integration. Through practical case studies, he vividly illustrated how contextualized teaching methods can enhance students' understanding of Chinese grammar and cultural nuances. The attendees, a diverse group of staff and students, actively engaged in discussions and expressed great interest in Dr. Song’s insights.
