Volunteer Teachers of Confucius Institutes in Ireland Meet in UCD CII

With the support of the Chinese Embassy in Ireland, a meeting for volunteer teachers of Confucius Institutes in Ireland was held in the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) on 1st November. Around 40 volunteer teachers from both UCD CII and UCC Confucius Institute (CI) gathered for teaching discussions and networking events. First Secretary of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy Mr Zheng Dawei, Director of UCC CI Ms Xiaohong Xu, Director of UCD CII Prof Liming Wang and Co-director Mr Wei Zhang attended the meeting.  Read more

2019 Irish Confucius Cup Go & Chinese Chess Tournament hosted in the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland

From September 28th to 29th, the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland, Irish Go Association, and Irish Chinese Chess Association jointly hosted the 2019 Confucius Cup Go & Chinese Chess Tournament. The event celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, whereby a total of 35 players from Ireland, France, Germany, South Korea, China, and other countries participated. Dublin’s Confucius Institute for Children officially opens for the 2019-2020 academic year

On the afternoon of September 14, Dublin’s Confucius Institute for Children officially opened for the 2019-2020 academic year. This year, the number of applicants for the Confucius Institute increased to an all-time high of almost 500. The teaching philosophy of Dublin’s Confucius Institute for Children centres on teaching students in accordance with their individual ability. Based on the various ages and language levels of the students, the school has scheduled 31 classes this year, including 23 immersive Chinese classes and 8 bilingual Chinese classes.   Read more

UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland launched the 2019 pre-service training program

The 2019 pre-service training program by UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland (CII) was launched on 20th August 2019 and lasted for 2 weeks. The objective of this training program is providing comprehensive training on local Chinese teaching for the 17 new volunteer Chinese teachers and visiting teachers. Teachers with rich teaching experience are invited to share their experience and conduct classroom simulation.   Read more
